4 Tips for Recapping Your Event on Social Media

Your Virtual Event is Done! Here’s How to Keep It Alive

Follow-ups are key to any successful event - even online ones! What you do post-conference is just as important as the event itself. Here are four strategies to keep the conversation going and provide value beyond the live stream:

#1: re-share KEY Takeaways

It can be difficult to constantly generate fresh content. Without reinventing the wheel, create a blog post of the conference’s five key tips and send it to all attendees along with a PDF of the slide deck. Take this a step further by repurposing this content and turning it into videos on YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn and IGTV. This adds a personal touch and can be shared easily online, keeping your organization and conference top of mind.

#2: SEND A NEWSLETTER

Good news: this is likely a marketing tactic your team already uses! After the event, send a newsletter to all attendees to thank them for tuning in and include your recap of the event’s main takeaways. Repurpose the newsletter throughout your social media in the form of key takeaways, polls, and hashtag reach results. We also recommend leveraging HippoVideo, a free video-capturing Chrome Extension that offers seamless integration to your digital mailing systems.

#3: HOST A VIRTUAL Q&A

This is a powerful and efficient way to create a personable experience for your online audience. Because they take place online, attendees can join and participate from anywhere in the world. Start a thread on Twitter, leave comments on a specific LinkedIn or Facebook post, or get creative and use the “Ask a Question” sticker on Instagram Stories.

#4: FORM AN ONLINE GROUP

Creating a group on Facebook or LinkedIn is a great way to continue the conversation between speakers, attendees and event organizers, and perfect for bouncing around ideas, asking related questions, and sharing industry news and tips. Of course, this is also where you can post about next year’s event!
