Shopping on Instagram: Why it’s not for everyone….yet
It’s now possible to sell on Instagram without using ad spend. You’ve already got followers, loyal and prospective customers who are all waiting to buy. You just have to engage with them. On Instagram, you can post a compelling image and a description, but the links aren’t clickable. So how do you lead people to your store and convert a like to a sale?
Instagram introduces Shoppable Posts. Consumers can discover and buy your product without ever leaving the app. Customers have two options: purchase tagged products in an Instagram post, or browse the “shop” feed on your profile. These features aren’t available to everyone so take a peek at our checklist to see if you’re eligible.
Do you have a shop on Facebook (and have at least one product reviewed & approved), as well as being located in either the United States, Canada, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, or Australia?
Do you have a catalog in Facebook’s Business Manager? This will require you to:
- Be on Basic Shopify Plan or higher.
- Sell physical goods that comply with Facebook’s merchant agreement and commerce policies.
- And have an Instagram Business Profile.
Once you have one of these options set up, you’ll be able to start using the shopping experience on Instagram and watch the sales roll in.
